چکیده

The Fetal Heart Rate interpretation based on Cardiotocographies (CTG) is the most common practice of obstetrician medical staffs. Computerized CTG Systems are used with the aim to reduce subjective aspects of these diagnostics. The Fetal Heart Rate Variability (FHRV) analysis using the CTG signal is an unusual approach. This work proposes a FHRV analysis based on the evaluation of time domain parameters (statistic measures); frequency domain parameters; and the short and long term variability obtained from the Poincaré plot. A normal distribution is presumed for each parameter and a normality criterion is proposed. Specific and overall classifications are proposed to help improve the fetal conditions interpretation, expanding the conventional FHR analysis.

Heart Rate Variability Classification using Support Vector Machine and Genetic Algorithm

Background: Electrocardiogram (ECG) is defined as an electrical signal, which represents cardiac activity. Heart rate variability (HRV) as the variation of interval between two consecutive heartbeats represents the balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic branches of the autonomic nervous system. Objective: In this study, we aimed to evaluate the efficiency of discrete wavelet transfo...

The Effects of Heart Rate Variability on Reading Performance among Iranian EFL Learners

Psychophysiological studies and MRI neuro-imaging findings provide evidence that heart rate variability (HRV) which is in control of our emotions affects our brain cognitive centers. It has been shown that coherent heart-brain interaction can change the pattern of the afferent cardiac input that is sent to the brain. For this purpose, the Institute of HeartMath (IHM) has proposed a kind of biof...

The Effects of Maternal Opium Abuse on Fetal Heart Rate using Non-Stress Test

Background: Opium is one of the most commonly abused opiates in developing countries including Iran. Considering the importance of maternal health on the newborn, we aimed to assess the effect of opium abuse on fetal heart rate (FHR) characteristics in a sample of pregnant women in Zahedan, Southeast Iran. Methods: This cross-sectional study was done on 100 pregnant women referring to Ali-Ibn-Ab...

p-leader based classification of first stage intrapartum fetal HRV

Interpretation and analysis of intrapartum fetal heart rate, enabling early detection of fetal acidosis, remains a challenging signal processing task. Recently, a variant of the wavelet-based multifractal analysis, based on p-exponents and p-leaders, which provides a rich framework for data regularity analysis, has been proposed. The present contribution aims at studying the benefits of using t...

Assessment of fetal development by HRV and chaotic global techniques

Introduction: Fetal heart rate and its variability during the course of gestation have been extensively researched. The overall reduction in heart rate and increase in fetal HRV is associated with fetal growth and the increase in neural integration. The increased complexity of the demands on the cardiovascular system leads to more variation in the temporal course of the heart rate which has bee...
